Can our AI actually reconcile A/R? ⚖️
First, let's test its reasoning.
✨ Day 9 of Vibe Accounting ✨ - we're turning our attention to a classic accounting headache: the A/R reconciliation.
Our ultimate vision is an agent that can autonomously identify discrepancies between the subledger and the GL, and then intelligently rewrite its own automation rules to fix the gaps. But before we could even attempt that, we needed to answer a fundamental question: Is our AI just a good instruction-follower, or can it actually understand a complex accounting process?
We designed a heuristic test to test reasoning and see how it analyzes, infers, and categorizes a complex system. We gave it access to the hundreds of our accounting automation rules we've created and gave it one command: make sense of this. Group all these technical rules into simple, logical scenarios that an accountant would use to start a reconciliation (invoicing, taxes, credit memos, payments, etc.).
The result? ✅
It did a remarkably good job on the first pass. This initial success gives me a lot of hope. It shows the agent has the foundational reasoning ability required to tackle the much harder task of a full reconciliation. This will take more time and testing, but we've proven our agent has the intelligence to take on the challenge. I'll share the results as we get them.
